About the Job
The Driver supports the Service Department by transporting parts and vehicles, picking up and dropping off customer and dealership vehicles, and performing basic vehicle checks and light mechanical tasks. This role also assists with Porter duties, including maintaining the appearance and organization of vehicles on the lot. The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-conscious driver who can follow instructions closely and represent Car Lux professionally while on the road and on the lot.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive to pick up and deliver parts for the Service Department.
  • Pick up and drop off customer, dealership, and mechanic vehicles as assigned.
  • Pick up vehicles from other dealerships and third-party mechanics.
  • Move and reposition vehicles within the lot as needed.
  • Operate manual (stick shift) and automatic transmission vehicles safely.
  • Perform light mechanical tasks, including jump-starting batteries, checking and filling tire air pressure, and replacing windshield wiper blades. Identify basic vehicle issues, such as inoperative brake lights or turn signals, and report findings to the Service Department.
  • Understand and correctly identify the difference between diesel and gasoline fuel types.
  • Assist with Porter responsibilities, including maintaining the cleanliness and organization of vehicles on the lot.
  • Follow all instructions and assignments from the Service Manager and department staff accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle pickups, drop-offs, and mileage as required.
  • Comply with all traffic laws and company driving policies at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 3 years of driving experience required.
  • Clean driving record; must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Ability to drive both manual (stick shift) and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Comfortable driving long distances as needed.
  • Basic working knowledge of light vehicle maintenance (jump-starting a battery, checking tire pressure, identifying fuel type, replacing wiper blades).
  • Ability to visually identify common vehicle issues (e.g., non-functioning lights).
  • Strong ability to follow instructions and work under direction.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
  • Willingness to assist with Porter duties and other lot responsibilities as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to enter, exit, and maneuver vehicles of varying sizes.
  • Ability to lift and carry parts weighing up to 25-50 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for periods while performing lot and vehicle checks.

Work Environment:
This position requires regular local and occasional long-distance driving, as well as time spent outdoors on the dealership lot. Some tasks may be performed in a shop or service drive environment.
